Planning for Sustainable Land Use and Transport

The Planning for Sustainable Land Use and Transport stream provides a home for issues at the leading edge of policy development at the interface between land use and transport planning. Its focus is on sustainable solutions to land use and transport problems and how to measure and evaluate their effectiveness and impacts.

Join us for this year's programme at ETC 2018 which includes:

Urban strategies (e.g. car free city centres, sustainable urban mobility plans, integrating infrastructure)
Transit oriented development (e.g. places and nodes, land use policies, smart growth)
Cycling (e.g. infrastructure, cycling programmes, assessment of results, gains and losses, safety, economic impact)
Streets (e.g. safety, design, people centred approaches, infrastructure & public space)
Innovative methods in planning & research (e.g. use of virtual reality, perception based analysis for planning, broadening the scope of transport markets)
Urban design and travel behaviour (e.g. impact on mode choice, speed, perception of travel time etc.)
Social impacts of (lack of) accessibility (e.g. tools and policy packages, service levels, barrier effects, transport justice, gender issues)
Urban behaviour in transition (e.g. impact of ICTs, impact of climate policy, modal shift, new developments in city logistics)
Decision-making under uncertainty. This will include a half day seminar - more information to follow.

What to expect from the most established transport conference in Europe...

The conference attracts transport practitioners and researchers from all over Europe providing access to in-depth presentations on policy issues, best practice and research findings across the broad spectrum of transport.ETC is a mix of plenary sessions, debates and workshop sessions. Each day, there will be a minimum of 9 concurrent streams, in sessions of 1.5 or 2 hours.

Each session comprises between three and four papers presented in a themed seminar. The chair of each session ensures that there is ample time for discussion of papers and questions.
