ETC 2024 Call for Papers

The Association for European Transport (AET) announces the start of the preparations for ETC 2024. This will be the 52nd ETC and the conference will be held at the University of Antwerp, Belgium, from 18th to 20th September 2024.

The European Transport Conference (ETC) attracts papers that address themes of relevance to the transport agenda in Europe and worldwide. The Conference provides a great opportunity for all delegates to network and form career-spanning professional relationships.

Conference Themes for 2024

We now invite Abstract Submissions for the 2024 European Transport Conference. The major theme of the conference will be:

Human wellbeing – healthy, efficient, safe and inclusive transport schemes for current and future generations
Sustainable travel – shaping daily travel and long-distance trips in the face of climate change and energy transition
Mode-specific and inter-modal aspects – local bus, tram and train, taxis, micro-mobility and active travel, private car with long-distance rail and bus, Mobility as a Service, integrated logistics, last-mile delivery and Enterprise Resource Planning
Labour, resource and energy challenges – supply constraints in freight and passenger transport
Regulatory issues – impacts of international, national and local legislation and regulations on infrastructure and services
Funding and financial sustainability – private finance alongside public funding in collaborative delivery
Cities and transport – integrated planning, active travel, liveable cities
Transport planning analysis and models – the methods and the tools for this century
Air travel and airports – moving towards a more environmentally sustainable and commercially viable future
Technology and Artificial Intelligence – how can and will these shape transport in the future?

In addition, we would like to hear from anyone who is interested in utilising ETC 2024 as a platform to hold their project inception, final results dissemination, or annual progress and planning event in a parallel co-located stream.

Your opportunity to present at the most established transport conference in Europe!

You are invited to submit an abstract based on one of the above themes, or on one of those suggested by the Programme Committees - details to follow in January 2024. Abstract submission closes on 9 Feb 2024.

Submissions may be made via the Association's website. You will need to register once as an author and then you can submit as many abstracts as you wish. Both AET members and non-members are invited to submit abstracts and to speak at the conference.

Authors selected to speak at ETC can request a peer review of their papers and a selection of reviewed papers is published online or in special issues of journals. More details are available on the AET website.
