Despite a shift in policy towards sustainable transport, investment remains poorly aligned with environmental and social policies and is often hindered by poor governance. Transport emissions are increasing their share of global greenhouse gas emissions and equity gaps are growing between those who consume the most and those who face the consequences of a changing climate. Part of the challenge for investment is to revise the assessment and verification frameworks to ensure that transport spending is better aligned with policy goals. In this webinar, professor Mateu Turró will explain how to construct ESG compliant investment packages.
Dr. Mateu Turró spent more than 20 years at the European Investment Bank where he was responsible for transport and urban projects appraisal and contributed with the EC to the establishment of cohesion policy, the definition of trans-European transport networks, and developing spatial and urban policy through the EU territorial agenda. In 2009 professor Turró returned to his Chair in the Civil Engineering School at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, teaching on decision-making, financing and European infrastructure policy, until 2019. He has been active as a consultant and is currently advising, through ESGPAR Inc., on ESG risks and impacts of major investments.
The webinar will be chaired by Derek Halden from the AET Transport and Mobility Forum and will include a short response to Mateu’s presentation, plus at least 30 minutes for attendees to ask questions and contribute comments.
