Stand-out Managing Transport Modelling Course celebrates its sixth year

Managing Transport Modelling training course by tftp in its 6th year!

Tftp’s course Managing transport modelling for non-transport modellers enjoys another successful year. Having started in 2013, in its sixth year the course continues to generate positive feedback from both delegates and lecturers. With 99% of delegates saying they would recommended the course to others.

The leading UK Transport Modelling course has gone from strength to strength, with 2018 seeing the first UK tour launched. Hitting major cities such as London, Manchester and Birmingham our final course in October 2018.

Our Manchester course was packed out with many delegates being involved with, or a part of Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) team. With the upcoming investment and cities goals, this course was well timed and hugely appropriate for them.

Mia Crowther, Senior Transport Strategy Officer for Transport for Greater Manchester commented, “Transport for Greater Manchester is working to support housing and employment growth in GM, so we needed a robust Transport Modelling course which covered the right amount of content for our internal and external project team. We also wanted to hear from various industry experts, not just one. This is why we chose tftp as our course provider.

Mia continues, “The varied speakers were second to none and the course content delivered the right amount of information required. Many of us could have easily spent more than 1 day on the topics! I would highly recommend this course and working with tftp as a training course provider.”

Here’s what some of our delegates say too;

What makes this a stand-out Transport Modelling course?

tftp delivering transport modelling course in the UK

Well, tftp is led by industry experts and professionals who have a genuine care for the industry and the professionals who work within it. The company founders, Alan Bailes and David Tucker care about not only the professionals in the field but about the communities in which they serve. The ultimate goal is to make the work a better place by maximising and improving transport as best they can to meet the changing needs of the modern world. This is the reason why the courses are continually reviewed and tailored to meet the needs of the delegates and the industry.

tftp work with only the best people in the industry and this programme is delivered by speakers who are expert transport practitioners from companies and organisations such as Highways England, Transport for London, The Transportation Consultancy (ttc), Willumsen Advisory Services, CitiLogik Ltd, Tracsis, Jacobs, PTV and WSP. Drawn from a mix of consultancies, academia, central government and local authorities the course is always guaranteed to give delegates a rounded understanding of transport modelling.

The full day, interactive workshop is aimed at de-mystifying 'transport modelling' for non-modellers. Essentially aiding those who deal with modellers / modelling to get the most out of the models they are working with, thus avoiding unrealistic expectations and maximising resources and outcomes. The course covers key areas such as; Role and relevance of transport modelling and data requirements and how to use modelling to assist decision-making, Data collection and analysis for transport modelling including looking at new techniques, Overview of the transport modelling process and application of software, Guidance and Procedures as applied to Transport Modelling, WebTag review and Forecasting and future scenarios needed to understand trends and future developments within the field of transport. The final session is always the best one and it’s the one we get the most positive feedback from – we have an open panel discussion with the delegates and the lecturers. Its interactive, interesting and delegates find it extremely valuable.
